XC60 Interior air cleaner/ionizer - Worth having?
Discussion
Hi all,
I've just ordered an XC60 T6 hybrid for delivery at God only knows what point in the summer!
One of the options I picked was the Lounge Pack, as this contains the panoramic sunroof and the 360 degree camera. I noticed, looking in the price list, however, that the sunroof is standard in the PHEVs, so the Lounge Pack only contains the camera, park assist and this interior air cleaner gizmo, albeit for a much lower cost.
Why they'd include the sunroof on the PHEVs but not on any other model is a bit of a mystery, but above all, I'm now left wondering whether or not it's worth the extra £250 for the gizmo? Has anyone got one who could report back? Having three kids and a dog, I'm inclined to keep it, but not if it doesn't really do anything!

Quibbling over £250 when you’ve ordered a new XC60.
More a case of quibbling over them having two completely different configurations and prices for ask imaging with the same name, which wasn't clear at the time of ordering, but why should the cost of the overall vehicle prevent me from asking the question anyway?Kermit power said:

So the pack is £250 and you thought it contained a sunroof? It’s not unusual for packs to differ like this, Porsche does it a lot for instance having different option prices depending on other options selected. I guess it’s worth the money if you want the parking and camera stuff. Most ioniser options are about £300. Cant comment on the Volvo version but on MB they work well although I wouldn’t pay for it as an individualOption but if it’s part of a pack sure why not

For the 2021 model year, they've decided for some reason to make it standard on plug in hybrids, but not on any of the others.
This means that if you order the Lounge pack on the hybrid, you don't get the sunroof or the 4 zone climate control, presumably because they've got the batteries where some of the rear zone gubbins would've otherwise been. All you do get is the 360 degree camera and the blind spot information stuff that that requires, plus the Ioniser.
This means that the Lounge pack in the hybrid is a lot cheaper, but had I realised at the time of ordering, I would've ordered the camera and BLIS as a standalone option for £250 less, and not had the Ioniser. It's too late to do anything about it now, so I just wanted to check if anyone had any reports, good or bad on them.
Nice to know it works well in your Merc, thanks. Do you have to top it up with air freshener or anything?
Oh right I see so basically you have ordered an ioniser you didn’t want for £250.
On the Mercedes the cartridges are about £40 and you can buy various smells. If you don’t refill the cartridge then it just cleans the air better than standard climate control without the scent. They cartridges last 1500 hours of driving.

Yup, that's pretty much it! On the Mercedes the cartridges are about £40 and you can buy various smells. If you don’t refill the cartridge then it just cleans the air better than standard climate control without the scent. They cartridges last 1500 hours of driving.
I do have three kids and a dog though, so it's probably no bad thing!
