Morning.

I’ve got a 2006 V70 with the bi xenon bendy lights. When I first got it last year the ns light occasionally flickered, and if the lights were on for more than about an hour it cut out and alerted the ‘dipped beam failure’ message. If you turned it off and on again it fired up for about another 15 mins or so.
I bit the bullet and replaced the pair of bulbs with genuine Osram D1S for the thick end of £100 as the internet advice was that the ballast was on its way out.
Changing them was a pain, but that’s another story.

So that was 5 months ago and all has been well, until yesterday, 45 minutes into a journey and the magical ‘dipped beam failure’ appears and I can see in traffic reflecting off the car in front that the ns dipped beam is out again. But this time it’s died died. Turning on and off has no effect.

These bulbs are meant to last years aren’t they? If it was a regular H7 and I’d bought poverty spec Halfords own I could kind of understand it and live with it. But at £50 a knock it’s pretty painful!

Any thoughts why my car is eating very expensive bulbs?!

Mine had the same problem.
It turned out to be the light switch . Apparently, a common fault where the solder breaks down.
Replaced mine and have had no further issues.

NOT MY AD..

Would a dodgy switch not knock out both of them?
But I trust your advice and for £15 it’s gotta be worth a go. Thank you

Too much bother for me so I tried a second hand switch and it worked.

I hope it does for you too. It's a 1 plug operation too !! bounce

If it doesn't work, you can sell it on for the same price !! wink

Great stuff thanks! I’ve sourced one on the bay, so will get that and hopefully it’ll do the job.
