I'm looking into this car, and I thought I'd ask on the Volvo forum here around the MPG's...

What sort of real life MPG would I expect from this car on a mixed run, I was hoping for at least 45mpg?

If you're looking at 2014>on with the VEA 2.0, then 45mpg+ will be fine.
