Dont think I posted this before as cant recall seeing any responses.

Any ideas on a good tyre to reduce road noise for my S80, in the past had Continentals, Handkook and something else cant remember, but as its that time again for a set of rubbers, thought I would look out for a quiet tyre.

Googled, its a minefield, thought some of you guys and gals would have some ideas for me, tks. My annual milage is 8k, mainly local runs, I dont spend hours on motorways if that makes any difference.

Goodyear Efficient Grips were quieter than the Continentals the car came with. I think the consensus is they are hard to beat for cabin noise but quieter still were Dunlop winter tyres. Currently on Goodyear all season tyres and they reverberate over every bump and lump on the road.

Tks for feedback, you mentioned Dunlop, I just tried my local National tyres and they showed Dunlop Sport Maxx TT at 67db, lowest of the bunch at £128.48 each.

Maybe Dunlop it is. Just drove from Aberdeen to Dundee today, some stretches just lovely, others so noisy, if they can't make one stretch quiet why not the rest.

Thanks again.

You need to be very careful with the db ratings. They measure noise outside the car, not inside. Some tyres that have a low noise rating can feed a lot of noise into the cabin, my Vector4Seasons being a case in point.

And there was me thinking it was easy to pick quiet tyres, nothing is easy in life these days. Thanks for the info.

This is probably not helpful, but I run Goodyear Eagle F1s on my V70. Very happy with them as an all round daily driver type tyre.
I haven’t noticed that they’re especially noisy, but as such I can’t remember thinking how quiet they are either.
For the money, I think they are a bloody good tyre.

Thanks for that.
