Picked up a 56 plate V50 at the weekend, absolutely love the car, took it through the carwash and the sunroof poured water in directly above the drivers seat so I got drenched!

Does anyone know if a leaky sunroof is a common issue on these?

Can't say for sure but I did notice last week that a 54 plate V50 parked round the corner had a tarpaulin stretched over the front part of the roof and tucked in both doors. It has a factory sunroof so I assume it had been leaking.

It seems it might be on V50s; all tilt-and-slide sunroofs allow water in and then manage it through drain tubes from the tray. The seal around the glass is just meant to manage the flow and keep the majority out, not be watertight. The drain tubes run from the corners of the tray and down the pillars (sometimes 2 on opposite corners, sometimes a tube in each corner of the tray). First step is to see if the tube is blocked - they usually come out under the car

Common problem on the V50.

There are four drain tubes - one in each corner and feed down the A pillars to the skuttle and the C pillars to the sills.

The front drains tend to block at the bottom - due to the design of the one way seal at the bottom and also can block at the top as the tube does a bit of an S bend before going straight down the A pillar.

Remove the A pillar trim and release the head lining above the door, this will give access to the drains and can be removed and cleaned with a combo of wire, compressed air or possibly water. Simple thing to clean and check that all is well. The rears are a bit more difficult to access as the rear seat needs to come out and the trim removed from the C pillar/wheelarch.
