Xc90 gearbox failure
Discussion
Hi
My xc90 has developed a gearbox problem - it’s probably been covered on here already but I’m having trouble finding any posts matching my symptoms
Last Friday I loaded up ready to depart for a couple of weeks away with the family - I’ve a 2004 d5 auto-
Car had been driving normally up to this point with no sign of impending doom. Car starts ok - select D but there’s no lights on the selector and the digital readout on the dash still shows P
Car revs up but with very little forward progress- I can only liken it to trying to pull away in a manual car in 3rd by slipping the clutch
Once some speed has been gained it seems to drive ok but doesn’t seem to want to engage top
Anyway had to abandon the car back at home and take another vehicle
Was just wondering what level of pain is it going to cause me once I get home ??
Is it repairable or am looking at a new gearbox???
Thanks for any replies
