Seat refurbishment V70
Discussion
I have a Gen 3 V70 where the driver's seat was showing exactly the same issue at about 90k miles, to the point where it was giving me problems with numbing my right leg. I managed to get a new original cushion foam and leather cushion cover via my dealer and they rebuilt the seat for me while I was away on holiday (they lent me a car while the work was being done - kudos to Johnsons Volvo). As I have heated/cooled seats in a pale cream it was great to get an exact match, but not cheap - cheaper than the depreciation from buying another car though, which would have been the option had a rebuild not being possible. Still going strong at 130k miles.
I had a Gen 2 V70 T5 and the seats on that were still perfect after 130k miles when the transmission finally gave up, so I think the dread hands of the Ford accountants were in evidence on the Gen 3.
As an aside, be careful if a trimmer offers to remake your cushion foam - cutting block foam to shape will never be as durable as the moulded-to-shape original, as the foam will have no skin on it and will tend to "crumb", unlike the polyurethane original.
