New V60 T8 Polestar engineered

Be interested in your thoughts. I had a D3 R design last week and apart from the poor engine thought the auto box was slow. Be interesting to hear if T5 works better.
gearbox on the T5 was pants, OK i haven't driven an auto petrol for a few years but it seem to be very slow at reacting compared to my ZF8Car itself wasn't bad, cabin felt bigger than my A6 but boot would struggle to swallow camping stuff
The Eisin gearbox in current Volvos is the world's first 8 speed for transversely mounted engines, and works very well indeed in Ford and many other manufacturers' current models because they have put much effort into matching engines to these boxes. From much adverse comment on its installation in current Volvos they have clearly not done their homework.
The ZF 8 speed is only for longitudinally mounted engines.
Don.
PS. you can find all other installations for both these 'boxes if you search for them individually.......

Long time lurker here...
I've actually got a V60 T8 Polestar on order through Intelligent Vehicle Leasing, supposedly it's due to be delivered early October but I wouldn't be surprised if that slipped a couple of weeks. They're available to spec through the Volvo UK site, and dealers are taking orders.
I've taken a bit of a leap of faith and ordered it off the back of test driving a V60 T5 R-Design - I'm familiar with plug-in hybrids (it will be replacing a BMW 330e which I've had for approaching 3 years) and know that they fit my use case well, and I've got confidence in Ohlins not having ruined the ride quality compared to the R-Design. If anything I'm expecting the Polestar to ride a bit better than the R-Design, in terms of body control anyway.
Interestingly it seems to have flown under the radar a bit, who would have thought that a 405ps PHEV performance estate car was a niche...

I’m giving one serious thought. I love the look of the current V60 both inside and out. Really nice cars and I fancy trying to see if the hybrid idea works for me.
I think I’d need an extended test drive to be sure though - what are the Volvo dealers like regarding extended test drives? I know they need to be careful they don’t waste money on joyriders, but can’t see any other way to see if the power train works for me.
Anyone running a T8 at all that can give some insight into the typical real world range on full electric?

I'm surprised people like the V60 - I've had my lease 6 months and can't wait for it to go back!
It gets 24mpg, it goes round corners like a tripple decker bus, it's not fast (given that MPG) and the big ass screen to change 90% of stuff is a H&S nightmare. Worse car I've had in a long time. Would never have another Volvo.

Do you own a V60 T8 hybrid? It gets 24mpg, it goes round corners like a tripple decker bus, it's not fast (given that MPG) and the big ass screen to change 90% of stuff is a H&S nightmare. Worse car I've had in a long time. Would never have another Volvo.
Unfortunately I feel the same way about Volvos, I like to look at them, but I made the same mistake of buying one a few years ago and I hated driving it. Coming from a lot of fast BMWs, I couldn't believe how bad the steering, cornering and braking was on the Volvo, and it was a supposedly "fast" Polestar version aswell.
I think I will never buy one again.

Saw a V60 T8 Polestar engineered in metallic grey at my local dealers today. Literally just come in off the transporter ready for PDI.
That gives me hope - delivery of my V60 Polestar was originally meant to be early October, now been pushed back to early December (supposedly due to issues with battery supplies)...Gassing Station | Volvo & Polestar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
