C30 2.0 R-Design
Discussion
Mrs Cmvtec took delivery of this back in February, but she's not bothered cleaning it since so I didn't post about it. She's been in Corfu for a week so I've been smoking around in it, and she knows I won't drive a filthy car so it's now very clean.
2010 2.0 manual R-Design wearing 74k miles. Overall it's a nice little car. Not as well specified as I would have expected it to be, however. The boot is particularly ridiculous to use when the hard load cover is fitted and it really could use a sixth gear. Plenty of torque steer as required
Couple of issues need resolving; these cars seem incredibly susceptible to stone chips, all the ones we looked at had quite a few. The boot has a very high load lip, so the top of the rear bumper is a bit scuffed. I think a gloss black wrap for the area below the tailgate would be a nice touch, as a paint repair would have the same end result.
Overall average MPG since last weekend has been 33.5, which is about the same as my 2.2 diesel auto X-Type, with the same type of usage. It has too many pedals for me, but I've very much enjoyed my week with it.

nice i have a D5 C30. I would have had full black leather if i could but few options for d5 and manual.
Did your mrs find insurance surprisingly expensive. I dont know why but it was a fair bit more over my mini cooper s.
She didn't want the two tone black/cream leather which most of the R-Design models have, so we were chuffed when we found this one. She also didnt want white but that soon changed. I would have gone for Hello Yellow!Did your mrs find insurance surprisingly expensive. I dont know why but it was a fair bit more over my mini cooper s.
Insurance I can't advise much - she's paying over 4 figures for it, at 27 years old with 6 points for telephone use and a large claim for a stolen car a couple of years ago. Oh, and her postcode is SR8 which seems to be the ahole of County Durham.
Car has remained surprisingly clean for the last few weeks, however. Perhaps I've lead her by example.
Nice car there...I have a 2010 C30 1.6D Drive E that I bought in January... having had a remapped Alfa 156 JTDM prior to the Volvo, I needed a more economical car for my 70 mile round commute.
I missed the power of the Alfa ( about 190 BHP !) so after a month I had a tuning box fitted to the C30 that increased BHP from 103 to about 140BHP which makes all the difference on the motorway.
Mine has the same black interior as yours, and regards the luggage cover...I removed it and it is stored behind the sofa ( such an awkward shape and a real pain to install/remove from the car !)
As the R-design has the Sports suspension, it handles really well, as good as my 156 which was amazing, so very pleased with the Swedish Ford Focus !
from this...with 160,000 miles...
