Power System Service Urgent

Got this today for the first time on a 2.4D V70. I'm assuming its either the alternator or a knackered battery. Online seems to suggest one of those two, is there anything else it could be that I can check out?

Was strange because although it came on, the car ran OK. Was only when I stopped at a traffic light, I suddenly get the ABS and traction warning lights, a message about anti skid being temporarily disabled and the auto being stuck in 3rd gear. Parked up, turned it off, left it two minutes, back on and all OK and its been fine since.

Do the basic checks on the battery voltage and alternator output first however they're prone for failing regulators, which are bolted to the alternator and simple to change.

I had this (V50 2.4 petrol) and my aux belt had snapped so the alternator couldn't do it's thing. I was able to drive for about another twenty minutes until I ran out of electricity and had to call the AA.
