Hi I've just bought a late 17 Volvo s90 d5 r design plus with 9500 miles the car is is nice to drive but I have a problem with the 12 volt charger. I have a portable dvd player for my little girl and it runs fine while engine is turn of but as soon as I turn the engine on it stops playing and screen starts flickering as if it isn't getting enough power to it .I'm just wondering has anyone else came across this I thought it was the lead but it works fine in my van .thanks for help in advance

I dont mean to sound disparaging but why not ask a Volvo dealer?...they will be aware of issues or could take a look. I dont normally post but with comments like this but it crossed my mind that it would be a much better way to expect a good answer or solution.

My S90 12v sockets are only powered when ignition is on. Is this what you are experiencing just the unit powering off.

Hi. Not an S90 owner, but I've had 3 V70s and am still running a Gen 3 so just trying to help.

All of the sockets in the interior in my car are linked to the ignition, whereas the one in the boot stays live when the ignition is off - I tend to use this one to charge my phone when I'm away from the car and doing stuff where a phone is not welcome. Being a Volvo, the car warns you that you have left something connected.

I'm guessing Volvo have a protocol for which sockets are ignition-related; I suggest you look through the handbook to see if it specifies which sockets do what.
