Hello
Those of you with new Volvos, have any of you opted for the Polestar upgrade? Looking at the T5 S90 it takes it from 250 to 253bhp and improve the Nm but on paper it looks hardly worth it....midrange looks greatly improved though
Anyone?

I don't see how they can justify it being the best part of £900

From what’s been written on volvoforums.org.uk the polestar upgrade really does transform the gearbox into something far far better than the stock one.

This. when all it does is change the gearbox settings its way overpriced.

Maybe one advantage (over a non approved fettle) is that you won't have any warranty issues if the thing goes pop. I've read that the standard box is hesitant and the Polestar upgrade solves this, but as an owner of a previous gen XC90 I have unhappy memories of the sluggish nature of the gearbox and question why Volvo don't just integrate this engineering as standard? I really like the new XC60 but having driven one back to back with the new Q5 it's difficult to ignore the better dynamics of the Q over the cool design of the Volvo.

I looked at a non approved fettle but it meant sending the ECU to be unlocked by BSR.

I've tried the Polestar remap and tbh it didn't really transform the gearbox. I have learnt to drive it and not have issues with pulling off at junctions etc.

Thanks. I need to think about replacing my current lease soon and currently pricing a T5 v60 and will investigate the Polestar update if the lease allows. But as you suggest, I need to test one back to back to see if its worth the money and any additional costs on the lease and insurance.

I have a 2014 Volvo V60 D5 with a Polestar remap, while it only brings a 15bhp increase, taking it from 215bhp to 230 bhp, the torque is something else. It is very responsive through the gears and the economy doesn't seem to suffer for it.
