Hive Mind,

What are peoples' thoughts on the 2015 era XC60? They seem to be on sale for pretty decent value (budget c. £20k), but unsure about reliability and utility. What should I be looking for when visiting dealers?

I'm currently driving a sporty coupe, but looking to "future proof" myself against kids/dogs (on the horizon...) so time to get something a bit more sensible.

We had a couple of XC60s a 2013 replaced by a 2016 until this year when we replaced it with a new XC90. They were both pretty much faultless the whole time we had them - both D5 engined AWD and used for everything including ski trips etc. Only reason we changed was the kids keep getting bigger...

We bought a 2014 D4 181 FWD in May. It's a great cruiser, we took it to Lake Garda in July with 4 of us.

The thought is to keep it for 5 years, so went for the FWD D4 as it's an EU6 (the later D5 can also be had in EU6 flavour as well) and will fit Michelin Cross Climates in a couple of months time.

It gets nowhere near the 60mpg claimed figure, the best I've managed is an indicated 53 on my 40 mile commute to work and generally low 40s. I imagine the D5 AWD will be low 30s.

Our spec is an R-Design Lux Nav auto with an electric sunroof from a Volvo main dealer. We specifically wanted Electric Silver and Lux spec for the Powered bootlid and leather. The Nav can be updated free of charge as Volvo offer free downloads from their website.

That was indeed our experience - high 30's on a longer run.
