Hi all,

Hopefully looking at a September 2015 XC70 D5 AWD Auto this weekend. One owner from new, 63,000 miles (lots of motorway - owner was a Doctor that went up and down the country a lot), full Volvo history.

Has good options:

Heated seats
Heated windscreen
Laminated windows
Keyless drive/personal car communicator (?!)
Lane departure warning
Driver alert control
Adaptive cruise
Front park assist
Rear reversing camera
Sensus Connect with Harmon Kardon stereo
18" Leda wheels
Tinted rear windows/boot

What should I look out for?

Also, does anyone know if this car would come with Nivomat style self levelling rear shocks as standard?

Thanks

Well.... I've seen some pics and have put a refundable deposit down and will go and have a look next week once it has been 'prepared.'

Service history:

27/08/15 PDI @ Clive Brook Volvo
24/08/16 1st service @ Paul Rigby Volvo
21/02/17 2nd service @ Clive Brook Volvo
14/02/18 3rd service @ Lipscomb Volvo

Cambelt not due until 10 years or 100,000 miles. Anyone know when gearbox fluids should be changed?

No not mine. Is Michael dealing with you? They don't like negotiating on price but they do look after their customers.

Nice car. I saw it pop up on their website and then I saw your post!

Check the aux belt has been done. I think they need replacing at 52k. Not completely sure on this.

Transmission fluid is sealed for life but general opinion is get this changed at 100k as it will help.

Yep, speaking to Michael.

Will check on the aux belt, thanks!

Seems a good price for the age/spec. Higher mileage has obviously dropped the price a bit, but hopefully it looks good and with regular fluid changes and servicing it’ll be fine.

The mileage is fine - especially on the D5 even though this is the VEA engine (4 cylinders). It's a great engine. See you on the Volvo forums should the purchase go through.

Good luck with the viewing.

That’s interesting - I thought this was the 2.4 litre 5 cylinder?

To be honest, there are not many Volvo drivers who is sure what is what regarding cylinders. The VEA engines were introduced at different times across the models.

I have just checked myself and I believe you are indeed correct - I understand the 5 cylinders were available until 2016 for the XC70 AWD. Sorry for any confusion.

It's a great engine - the best I ever had in my previous V70 that I also bought from Michael!

No worries!

I thought that was the case but like you say it did take me a while to pin down the exact engine, it can indeed get quite confusing.

Let’s hope it looks good in the flesh!

Ask them to service the Haldex and gearbox in the price. These dont get serviced even if VW who use Haldex do every 34k ish miles, I believe. They will probably say they dont need doing, but the Haldex pump doesnt like crappy oil.

Check all the door locks work (as in lock and unlock) I've had all 4 replaced (under warranty) but its about £250 a door!

Apart from that, enjoy. Love mine.

It is half way to dead gearbox, if it's an auto. My sister has had three of these, they have ALL shat their gearbox at 130000-140000 miles. The current one is on 137k and it's about to die.

That’s interesting, do you know if they had ever been serviced?

I know they say they are sealed for life but I think they also say to change transmission fluids at 100k. More often if it’s having a heavy life with towing, etc.

Good tip, thanks. Do you have keyless entry?
