Hi everyone, new to forum. Looking for some ideas on an annoying rattle from rear end of s60. It's over small bumps it's noticable and seems to be same on both sides. I had new discs and pads a few weeks ago and mechanic couldn't find (didn't look) a problem. Drop links seem to be ok. Any help appreciated

Have you checked rear exhaust bracket

That's what was causing an annoying rattle on my mums after inspection

It’s difficult to tell with drop links. They are cheap and easy to change on those, so it’s probably not a bad idea to just do it.

Hi. Thanks for replies. Will check exhaust bracket and change drop links. Had to grind fronts off last year after an hour of trying to undo so maybe just grind rears straight off.

It was a few years ago when I did mine but I don’t recall them being difficult at all. Soak the bolts in plus gas for an hour before you undo them.

Thanks for that, will give that a go. Cars only done 45k so maybe fronts were originals but they weren't for budging.

The rear exhaust brackets are known to rust away. Mine did. You can a genuine Volvo clamp that goes around the exhaust and fits into the rubber bungs

Thanks for all the replies. Will get under and have a look. Not had a chance . It's a really annoying rattle. It's wife's car and she's convinced somethings about to fall off. redface

I'd be very cautious about if a piece of your rear brake shoe hasn't detached itself and is clonking around in the drum - They have been known to totally obliterate themselves at speed on the S60 through delamination. If you've not checked them for a while, get the drums off and check them - piece of piss job on an S60 if you've got a jack, a large cross head screw driver and a socket set
