Have been looking for a Volvo V70 D5 estate and came across a 57 plate today but there was a few issues with it which I wasn't sure about.

One of them was that the car displayed a headlight warning when the vehicle started, the current owner tells me that he has replaced the xenon bulbs but it would need to go to Volvo to get the computer reset. Is this really the issue?

The other was that the AC only blew out hot air, even on the coldest setting. It could be just a re-gas, however are these cars known for having AC issues?

Are these likely to be easy issues to resolve?

The headlight thing may well be related to the self levelling system if it has xenons - my 2004 car would throw these up occasionally. Could be a big bill and is possibly an MOT failure. Only way to find out for sure what it is would be to get the codes read with a Volvo VIDA system.

Any ten year old car is prone to AC problems, usually a punctured condenser. Was it blowing warm air as in heated air, or warm as in just from outside? Hard to tell when it's this hot out. I ask because heater valves can become stuck open so it is actual heated air it blows all the time. AC repair cost is open ended, it could be £150 for a condenser or the entire system could be full of st from a failed compressor. No way to know without someone checking it out. I bet you £5 that if you regass it then it'll just be empty within a month, probably a week, possibly a day.

Agree on AC on a 10 year old car that isn’t working, it’s a total lottery what the issue might be. Although, the vents were blowing out really warm air which was definitely warmer than outside!

On the xenon lights, i take it that if you did change the bulbs then the warning would go out if that was the only issue?

Yes on the lights. It may have swivelling "active bending" lights too, in which case if they develop a fault the owner will be doing some bending too. Bring vaseline.
