2005 V70R -- Good idea?

Hi chaps,
Whilst looking for a bus for general duties, i have found the above very local to me.
Its an Auto with 115K on the clock, 5+ owners and the seller is looking for £5k which seems a little bit steep to me.
Anyway, it's had a reasonable amount of work done, including angle gear and sleeve??
All dampers replaced etc.
Anything else i should look out for apart from the usual etc.?

They seem to have bottomed out at 4K for super leggy ones. Dampers are expensive, even the cheaper aftermarket ones, if they've fitted the proper active ones. It sounds like the two weakest areas have been addressed, just change the autobox fluid and you might get lucky.
5K for one with that mileage and the weak points fixed is actually very good from what I've seen of the selling prices. You seem to have to pay not much less than that for a 2.4 T5 without intergalactic mileage, £5k usually gets you a 2003 model with 150K+.
It is a lot for a 13 year old, not really all that fast, rather fragile, very thirsty Volvo with the much less desirable autobox though. General consensus seems to be that unless you MUST have an R you would be better served by a tidy 2.4 T5.

I have an S60R, so basically the same thing. It's a great comfy car but I did have to have a new block and get it shimmed as a liner split. This along with a new clutch cost £2500.
I wouldn't buy an auto as the gearboxes are not as strong as Volvos of old.
Mine is currently in having a new intercooler fitted as the old one split. It's not been the cheapest car to run but it is very comfy, somehow manages 29mpg, is quick and very surefooted in all weather.

I know it's not the same car, but for comparison we have a 2004 2.5T geartronic AWD V70. It's immaculate, 119K on the clock, every optional extra and it all still works. Probably not even worth a grand.
Cracking car that. The 2.5T without AWD is probably the best car in the P2 V70 range for me, unless you must have AWD. Very few petrol models sold in the UK after that ridiculous road tax came in for the 2006 models, sadly. Thanks to the great wisdom of our leaders we get lovely "clean" diesels instead
