i HAVE BOUGHT A 1 OWNER XC90 ON A 2004 PLATE, IT HAS REASONABLE LOW MILAGE 126000. IT HAS A FULL SERVICE HISTORY. PROBLEMS, RUNS AT HALF TEMP BUT FLASHES UP "LOW COOLANT" AND ENGINE SERVICE NEEDED, ALSO CHECK ABS. BEEN BACK WARD A FORWARDS TO GARAGE BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS GOES BACK TO MESSAGES, ITS A DIESEL AND AVERAGE MPG SITS AT 36. aNYONE ANY IDEAS..

IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR GARAGE IS SIMPLY CLEARING CODES INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY INVESTIGATING PROPERLY!!

You'll probably have to take it a Volvo specialist who has access to VIDA to properly diagnose what's going on.

Also, is the battery an original? An old battery on its last legs can throw up some 'oddities'.

Hi, check coolant level nearly every day, Today tick over seems lower than before about 600 rev, between 1500 and 2500 revs car seems to stutter abit above that runs fine, at lower revs when engine is working black smoke appears| after you get above 2000 no smoke average mpg sits on 36.1. This is starting to do my head in,

I can't help, but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the fact that you wrote this whole thing with caps lock on, then pressed shift to capitalise the 'A' in "anyone". It says more about me than you, but I smiled outwardly.
