2003 S80 front suspension dull clunk

Hello all,

I hope you are well.

My 2003 S80 has recently developed a suspension clunk that appears to be coming from the front off-side of the engine bay, and is prevalent when driving over uneven surfaces, but not when cruising on a smooth surface.

My research leads me to believe that this is likely going to be either the sway bar droplinks, or the top strut mounts, but I guess it could be some a bush that's perished too.

Can anyone tell me how I might diagnose which one of these is causing the clunk, or indeed if it's likely to be something else that I have missed?

Hoping it's the drop links as they appear a much cheaper job than the top mounts!

It's usually the drop links, they take a lot of hammer.
I'm not sure if you'd be able to detect wear by hand. You could just replace them anyway as they're cheap enough.
