2010 Volvo XC90 D5 complete brake overhaul

Well took a trip in my wife's 2010 XC90 Active on Saturday (full Volvo service history and just over 40k miles) and was shocked how bad the brakes had become. I last used it in June for a long run but this time the brakes shuddered and indicated imminent need of disc replacement. I would like to replace all four with new pads and rotors. Has anyone completed this task and can you recommend the best place to source the parts. My Volvo dealer has recently moved premises into very modern building with a nice rise in hourly rates. After seven years our local independent garage is perfectly willing to undertake the work. We hope to keep the car for ten years and then if all is well replace it with the next XC60.

I ended up getting a main dealer to do ours - after noting what I could get genuine parts for online (partsforvolvos IIRC). Can't recall exactly how much it was...not cheap but OEM parts are quite lumpy.

Used to pick up these sort of brake part from my local German and Swedish, but these days just get them delivered from Eurocarparts. Always go for the most premium (non-Volvo) brand.
