P1 V70's - Where are they?
Discussion
Hello,
Looking to replace my first car (a 1.4 Corolla), with an estate. I've grown up in Volvo's my whole life (740, 940, 960, P2 V70) and suffice to say I love them. I also happen to really love the shape of the P1 V70s, but I can't seem to find any for sale, is there a reason for this?
Oh, and is there anything particular to look out for when buying one? I'm fairly sorted if I chose to go for a P2 as my Dad and I have done plenty on ours over the years, but relatively clueless about the P1s!
Cheers,
Cookeh

They're rock bottom right now - The 850 hit this point around 3 or 4 years ago and many get bought and ragged into the ground, the survivors go on to go up in value like we're seeing with 850 T5s now, C70 will be next - buy the best in the world for less than a couple of grand - most are currently being run into the ground. The survivors will go on to become classics. I've had both 850s and V70s both sold for peanuts and consequently now worth much more than I sold them for. I'm hoping the C70 i've currently got will go the same way but we'll have to wait and see - I'd look down the C70 route if practicality is less of a priority for you - they really are very cheap at the moment - I love mine and to be fair its far more practical than you think - easily swallows four adults in comfort and the boot is massive.
What to look for?
Blocked crank breathers,
Seized brakes
Failed top engine mounts
Faulty ABS control modules
Sticking Purge Valves
Dodgy Throttle bodies.
Shagged front suspension bushes, ball joints and drop links
Crap geometry causing worn front tyres
Auto boxes are strong but need a flush periodically.
Pretty tough otherwise - All the above probs are cheap and easy to put right - I've never had a major issue with one. Engines and drive train very similar to 850 and P2 models.
