2004 T6 XC90 electrical gremlins
Discussion
Hello experts,
I've recently bought an XC90. I bought it blind (yes, stupid) and it was delivered to me in Germany, due to lack of time to pick it up.
Unfortunately there seem to be a few (hopefully) small problems with it.
The rear wiper stops and starts when it wants after you turn it on. It eventually parks itself when you turn it off.
The windscreen wiper intermittent mode baffles me. It seems to vary its timing independent of the adjustment.
And lastly, before I had it delivered, the former owner asked me to ring him BEFORE I drive it. Alarm bells. I did, and he said that I should NEVER set the clock on the dashboard. Apparently if I did, it would cause all sorts of problems with the dashboard electrics. He said this was a common fault for these. Obviously I haven't touched it, yet.
Has anybody heard of these problems with a T6 XC90? It reeks of a bodge to me.
The car has been fine over the last 2,000 miles, apart from these points, and I really want to set the clock

If it has a rain sensor then the adjuster alters the sensitivity - clockwise more sensitive. If it has a rain sensor and doesn't have the little rain sensor button on the stalk which came in IIRC about 2005 then the "intermittent" point on the stalk uses the sensor.
The rear wiper is probably corroded up. Quite common - water gets into the aluminium spindle and stops it moving properly which eventually burns out the motor. If the motor is still OK I'd recommend taking the rear wiper off and seeing if you can lubricate it.
To be brutally frank if this is a pre-2005 T6 and these are the only issues you've bought well.
