Hi all

Already posted on volvoforums but thought I might gain some useful opinion here too!

Looking to get myself a very good V70 D5 SE in the coming few weeks. The car will replace my 2015 C class company car with all the modern toys so I don't want to go too Bargin basement to avoid too much modernity remorse and am prepared to pay a little over the market value for the right car, but targeting no more than £5K if possible.

I really like the softer 'Lux' type seats and the higher power audio option, Sat nav or telephone prep would be nice bonuses.

I will do 25K miles per year including business travel so am a bit stuck as to risk a newer Euro 4 with the associated loss of economy and extra reliability concerns, but these generally seem to have the

I have been trawling ebay, auto trader etc and found the below candidates as the best. Would welcome thoughts on the cars linked if anyone has some good advice.

Checking today this is Euro 3, I think it is:
Volvo V70 2.4 D5 SE Geartronic 5dr

Manual Euro 3 (I think):
Volvo V70 2.4 D SE 5dr

This one looks well kept, ticks all boxes on spec apart from the least efficient in terms of fuel being Euro 4 and auto. But an EGR clean, swirl arm check / mod and gearbox flush away from another 50-80K miles with general servicing and chassis upkeep?

They all look good from here smile

If you're doing 25k a year with at least one long/motorway journey a week then you won't get DPF issues if you buy a car with a DPF.

Auto gearboxes from that period need the oil changing - supposed to be sealed for life but a change will help them last a lot longer and remain smooth.

I'd buy on condition, service history and how they feel on the road. Even at 100k miles they should still feel solid, no rattles and reasonably tight. Get a proper service done before the winter, calipers off, pads out, fresh fluids and filters everywhere with the correct oil and you should get another 100k out of them with minimal expense especially if your mileage is mostly motorway.
