Hi everyone,

Just joined PH although I've been lurking here for years.

My car is pretty much on it's last legs and I'm looking to replace it. I've been considering a Volvo S60 D5. It seems to tick all the boxes for me and people seem to rave about them.

Initially I was looking for low millage ones at 50 odd thousand. These seem to be the best part of 5K. However, I've found one near me at just over 90,000 miles that looks good.

Normally I'd be put off buying a car with this millage, but as far as I can tell they seem to be very reliable. It's a 2006 model (185) with full service history, full leather and an auto box. Cambelt has been changed although it will need doing again in 15,000 miles. Seller is asking £3400.

It looks good at least in the pictures. Is there anything I should be looking out for at this millage?

Thanks

Brilliant cars and I love mine.

Super comfortable. Mine is on 102K now and runs like a dream and is really fast, I've had mine mapped to 220bhp and still gets over 40mpg. The other day a 2012 golf GTI booted it in front of me and I kept up with that. he wasn't too happy!

Things to look for are:

Swirl arm, it will break so look to see if it has had a mod/upgrade.

Geartronic boxes can have issues. Mine is a manual and they have issues to with the Clutch slave leaking, mine went at 80K so had new clutch and DMF put in.

Turning circle and rear leg room is st so if you have kids they will moan.

DPF issues, but as long as you give the odd good run it should be okay.

For the money they are cracking cars and for similar performance and economy the equivalent 330D BMW or Audi would be double the money.

Reading up on these, this seems to be why the older Euro 3 engine is more sought after as it doesn't have these to go wrong?

The cambelt interval is 10 years or 108,000 miles so why would it need a second change?
