Help please - S40 1.9d aircon delete
Discussion
My neighbour has an 02 Volvo S40 1.9d (Renault engine) the air con compressor seized up and destroyed the pulley bearing.
He is short on cash, not bothered about working air con and needs the car for work.
Is it possible to fit a shorter serp belt and bypass the compressor, if so does anyone know the dimensions or part number?

Just get a compressor pump from a dead car and fit it to the bracket but don't plumb it in - did this on an S80 with a shagged compressor and it ran fine - compressor merely acts as a tensioner pulley
Trouble you'll have finding a shorter belt is that I believe all S40s came with Aircon.

Problem now resolved, bought a compressor through 24/7 spares for £50, unfortunately they sent the wrong one so had to return it.
With no correct units available I sourced a bearing from a local supplier for £30, pressed it into the old pulley and refitted it (without the clutch), no air con now but the car is perfectly usable.
