I ride past them quite regularly: no idea what they're like, but always have a yard full of cars. For a place so remote (a good 10-12 miles outside of Oxford in the middle of nowhere, with no bus or rail links to get you home!), I'm guessing people are willing to travel for them...Anyone know of Horton Cars north of Oxford?

I know a great Volvo Specialist Indie but he is based in Chalfont St Giles in Bucks. Too far?
That's just under an hour so not out of the question, recommendation welcome! The chap as suggested in this thread is who I would recommend.

Just to close this one off: Horton Cars had mine last week for a full service and MOT. Lovely service, Graham and the team were great and very happy with it all (including the price.) you can tell they know they're Volvos and care about them.
Even got a "classic" V70 with a mere 200k on the clock to waft around in for the day!
Recommend.

The reviews I’ve found in several places look pretty positive to me, but realise garages can change from good to bad pretty quickly...

Yes, I still run 3 Volvos at least in part because excellent Indy locally. Use with confidence.
Thanks. That’s great.Unusually they have a really good website and offer alignment, which is handy, since I need new brakes, tyres and alignment, and it’d be good to get all this done at one place...
My dad used a Volvo indie over near either Wantage or Grove and was very happy with them.
I think he still uses them even though he no longer has a Volvo.

Yup, I’m still using Horton. They get booked up quick mind you. I had to take my V70 elsewhere about two months ago as the fuel filter housing had split and they simply couldn’t fit me in on the hurry up.
You get a great service from them, and you also get an honest report back. I put mine in for a minor service a while back which they did. When I picked it up, they talked me through some other minor issues which will need attention - but no hard sell, no “you need to book it in now sir” just a nice honest job.
And as mentioned, if you book in good time you get a day in some Volvo nostalgia. Not classy, but again, it’s an honest cheap way of proving top class customer service.
I’m lucky, they’re about 5 miles from me

Thanks. I’m booked in for next week for wheel alignment and want them to check a few other things. That sounds positive. Would be good to get their honest take on the car and what might need doing, since I’ve only had it 10 days...You get a great service from them, and you also get an honest report back. Getting a period Volvo courtesy car is half of the appeal for me! Interested to drive a similar age/spec car to see how mine compares. Often the best way of highlighting any issues with your own car...
Yep, you’re lucky. I’m about 50 miles away.

I guarantee that your newly acquired car will feel showroom fresh in comparison to their courtesy car.
