Chaps we need a family utility car for tip runs and times when we need to take liars with us - this is local http://www.a41carsales.co.uk/used-cars/volvo-v70-c... but I have never had a Volvo - are they any good? 4wd issues..?
The car would be used infrequently not daily but weekly at least

We use 2 electric cars all the time now and I have a FX50 infinity sitting unused, we need a petrol car for emergencies but the fx50 is just losing cash. I have a new car on order for feb 2016 so this is to last from selling the fx50 till then and hopefully retain it's value once tarted up - budget is anything really but use us sparse

To be honest that last XC70 I linked to looks lovely, is v. well priced and is unlikely to lose a penny if you sold it on in 2016.
The 2.5T engine is also a peach and probably the all-round pick of the bunch from the petrol Volvo range.
You do know that it has the 'Time for regular service' message up.The 2.5T engine is also a peach and probably the all-round pick of the bunch from the petrol Volvo range.
Based on experience that can mean anything from 'annoying', to 'new intercooler.'

The regular service message just means it needs a service.... As long as its not the 10yr cambelt service its hardly a big expense.Based on experience that can mean anything from 'annoying', to 'new intercooler.'

I note when looking at the service book though that it needs a service now, it's due one at 144k which it's now done, and the book says no later than 10th April 2015. It's not had a spanner on it in over a year. I wonder if the garage will service it at Volvo, or just wipe the engine down, throw in some cheap oil and stamp the book themselves. Cynical? Me?
It'd be a shame though, it's a lovely one. I'd be chuffed with that
Agree. I worked someone who bought an ex first responder car. It had daft miles on it, and he put even dafter miles on it, and yet it still went like a stabbed rat when he hit the loud pedal. I remember him and I having to 'make time' to get to a sim slot and he managed it no bother.
In fact you probably talk to him reguarly - he drives a 7 series for FR as a day job.

Chaps - I think this is near perfect - tell me it's the wrong engine etc

It's a bit thick on the dealers hyperbole, it's very strong money for a pre facelift petrol (which struggle to sell as Joe Punter only wants 2.3 litre 11 year old petrols if they are nearly free) and low miles compared to what? An Eddie Stobart Scania?http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
Four grand, or a boot on the bum close to it. That puts you in a similar age (insert prestige car here) that isnt going to lose 35% of its resale value the minute your V5 comes back.
Your money though fella
