Volvo knowledge required, 960 inherited
Discussion
Guys,
Unfortunately my grandad is going to a nursing home, and his 96 P, 3.0 960 estate that he bought brand new and only put 26k on is being re homed. There is the possibility that it will come my way, But I fear that such low mileage may be more hasle than its worth. Although it would mean I could sell my current car and use the 960 as a family wagon.
So I ask fellow pher's for some advice on these cars, iam a bmw guy and not really up on Volvos. Any thoughts/advice appreciated.
Cheers

Value wise - amlost nothing.
Maybe £800-1200 to the right buyer.
Most people see it as an old car with a big engine.
Keep it in the family, it will outlast all of you!
Disagree, nice 960's and V90's, especially with that kind of mielage are very rare. I would say, assuming car is in nice condition also, value is £2500 / £3000 - possibly more to the right buyer.Maybe £800-1200 to the right buyer.

http://www.dawhitecars.co.uk/used-cars/volvo-v90-luxury-edition-5dr-auto-204bhp-derby-201312220664520That is from a dealer (with a warranty), not a private sale.
And more importantly - thats an ASKING price, not a sale price.
I have seen many, many good V90s and 960s go through eBay and autotrader, they very rarely make much more than £1k, no matter how nice they are.
I wish all the best for OP if he decides to sell, and I hope he realises an excellent price for it - however my estimate of about £1200 is far, far more realistic than £3k!!

Look, without derailing the OPs thread too much - your link is to a V90, not a 960 which are generally less valuable.

Conversely, the one linked has 81K miles and the OP only 26K miles, 960 and V90 are very similar cars TBH - V90 is essentially a facelifted 960. Most 960's and V90's on ebay have 100K+ miles and some well into the 200k+. If the OP's car has a nice interior and is in decent nick I stand by my valuation, it's not like there's a huge choice of them out there! That is from a dealer (with a warranty), not a private sale.

Cheers for all the comments, we are not to hung up on value, it's more of a heart over head decision. No one in the family really needs a 960, but it's my grandads a pride and joy but he will never get to use it again, family meeting I think.
Keep it for now, use it, make sure you visit him, take him out in it as often as possible. Once the inevitable happens then you can decide if you want to keep it or sell it.Gassing Station | Volvo & Polestar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
