I had my unit repaired by these guys: http://volvodiagnostic.com/shop/index.php?id_produ...
Really easy to remove at home, send it off to them, they send it back with a 2 year warranty on their repair around 3 days later, re-fit to the car, job done

Just bought myself an 02 S60 and it has this problem too, let me know how you get on. £60 repair from Volvo diagnostics seems a good deal though, has anyone had a go at fixing it themselves? I assumed it was a loose earthing wire or something.
I need to change a bulb in there too so seems like a good time to do it all at once.

It's one of the chips on the pcb. It's the only one with Motorolla written on it. All 126 legs need reflowing I need to change a bulb in there too so seems like a good time to do it all at once.
Good luck
