Good place near Reading/Henley/Marlow to get air con fixed
Discussion
My air con isn't working, apparently it has a blockage, the low pressure side is too high on pressure.
It's a retro fitted Sanden system on a 1994 Volvo 850. The garage I took it to to get gassed recon they'll just be too expensive for an old car.
Anyone know any good cheap garages for air con in the Henley/Reading/Marlow/Maidenhead Area?

I would question the diagnosis. Low pressure side would be equalised to the hp side, if the compressor isnt running. You would get no pressure on the lp side if there was a blockage or short of refrigerant. Blockages can be either in the expansion valve/ capillary or the drier. If you have an issue with high pressure tripping out, then it could be overcharged, fans not running or a blockage. The drier is a silica filled canister and if people have been fiddling and not repairing correct, then it can become contaminated with moisture and block . This can be by poor purging/ lack of evacuation before recharging etc.
Sadly, although in building a/c I don't know anyone in car a/c I could recommend, although do avoid the usual drive in, drive out emporiums and find a company that just specialises in vehicle a/c repairs.

I've used this guy before: http://www.vanchilla.co.uk/ in the past after Kwik Fit made a hash of it with my Range Rover Sport.
He's old school and thorough, he checked everything was ok before doing anything on the gas side, emptied, refilled, looked for leaks and noticed the pressure was way too high. He diagnosed it to a mixed gas issue (thanks Kwik Fit), emptied it all again, got a fresh bottle and refilled. Been good as gold since.
It did cost him half a bottle of gas mind since whatever Kwik Fit put in polluted his bottle...
I have a leak on another vehicle, so will be in touch with him soon.
