I've not long had my V8 Sport and it's an 07 so older than what you're looking at by the sounds of things. I love it. Yamaha engine is fantastic and sounds great. 6 speed ZF box also great - deceptively quick and a fantastic cruiser. MPG clearly not a strong point but better than most V8 equivalents and considering the size and weight I am happy with it - 25+ motorway cruise, seemingly 19-20 in general use. The D5 is a great engine but in an XC90 its working pretty hard and around town the economy isn't a huge amount better in my experience - 25mpg tops.
Had one tailgae me for a couple of miles. The V8 logo on the grille (filling my rear window) set the look of the thing off nicely. The V8 seems to have a different look to the usual XC90, not sure how.
Any way, having him sat on my arse for a few miles annoyed me somewhat so when I found an empty bit of road, as he went to overtake, I found myself wondering, "Is a V8 XC90 quicker than a tuned, 11 year old ex-police V70..."
I got my answer pretty quickly.
