After a guide price....

Hi All,

Circumstances have changed and as a result, our beloved V40 1.9 SE has to go. But (genuinely), I don't know what to put it up at.
I would really welcome some guides on price.

The details:-

'52 plate V40 1.9d SE in the voilet/blue colour
12 months CLEAN MOT
6 months Tax
Manual
162,000
Leather interior
Sunroof
Air-conditioning
HU604 with line in/cassette mod for ipod playback
updated halogen HL bulbs, and LED sides
Just had a big service
pads and discs
4 virtually new tyres on Multi-spoke wheels
New drop links
Something else suspension-wise (got to find the paperwork!)
New Battery
Cambelt kit
Water pump.

I'm guessing around the £1700 - £1800 mark. Am I right or way off?

I must stress that this isn't the sale ad - I'll put it in the right area: just after a guide price smile

Thanks,

Dan

£1000-1200 tops.

My wife has a 2.0T in grey in identical spec as yours with 80,000 and I wouldn't get more than £1500 for it I am sure - with a years MOT

ask yourself how much would you pay for it - that's a good starting point.

Thanks for this - although it's considerably lower than the valuation given on the valuation sites
confused.com (£1700)
Glasses (£1600 - £2.2k)

The only changing factor is that it's 119bhp SE version.

weird!! biggrin

Will have to chuck up an ad and see if I get any bites smile

Unfortunately it's a bad time of year to sell. Hope you are lucky, the car looks very nice.

Have look on Gumtree for the real story. In Birmingham alone, there are 5 V40's for sale under £1000 and I have been offered £400 trade in for my 2002 with 140k miles.

If you can get 4 figures then take the money and run.

For these sort of cars (ie £500-1500) the price guides are total horsest, there are examples on forecourts for £3500!! - we paid that for ours about 6 years ago!!!!!

We have no plans to sell the wifes one as its monumentally reliable, fast, does everything, and you can leave it anywhere without fear of it being a target for vandals/car thiefs.

And for the money it would bring in its not worth changing it - the wife uses my nice newish xc90 if she wants to drive a newer car, I quite like ripping the v40 around as it suprises many "better" cars. wink

I bought my 2003 V40 1.9d sport 115 with 12 months mot and 4 months tax for £1000. It was advertised at £1300. FVSH, very clean inside and out, almost immaculate. It had done 185,000 miles though. Clean examples do seem to hold their value. Stick it up for £1600 and see what happens imo

Yeh, I'm looking at about £1700, with offers around the £1600.

Already had one bite, but sounds like a scam tbh. (paypal only payment & use of a pick-up agent - 2 things that made me twitch)
