Unfortunately, the Volvo section of PH isn't overly awash with regular members which would explain the lack of replies.
Glad you're liking the car, I've not been in one myself but I've heard very good things about it and it's a shame they've stopped production so early.
I don't use winters myself (can't justify the cost) but I would say avoid the budget stuff as it's a false economy.
Maybe pop over to one of the Volvo specific forums like vpcuk, T5D5, Volvotuning or volvoforums (volvo owners club) and ask around for recommendations?

I run a V50 D4 and have fitted Kumho KW23 winter tyres, mainly because they are one of the few tyres available in the same spec as original fitment. They are effective, but a curious spec as they are quieter and as economical as the Continentals supplied by Volvo. However the steering weight is almost non-existent.
Ideally I'd have fitted a set of Avon CR85s, but they are non longer available, next time I will be seeing if their partner company Coper does a suitable replacement.
