I have decided that I want an XC90 and I am very tempted by the V8, it will only do about 10k miles per year and I reckon that it will be nicer to drive and potentially more reliable then the D5 which seems to suffer from the emissions kit related issues that most modern diesels suffer from.
I am looking at a low mileage 56 plate car.
Am I mad to be looking at the V8 and are there any particular issues that I should be looking out for?
Thanks.

good luck with the search, I looked for ages but they only made them for a short while , cant remember off top of my head when , I settled on a t6 model , its brilliant , as a wafter its fast enough but not fast but picks up well when on the roll , fuel is as bad as could imagine , good is 24 on a run , guess at around towneek
but comfortable and easy to get on with , and its seats seven quite easily , I had a dico before and this beats it in every way

Thanks for the response, I have put down a deposit on one, I get it next week and I am hoping that it will have a nice V8 soundtrack as well as being a good family car.

That sounds amazing but I doubt that is the standard exhaust smile
I am going to have to look into exhaust options for it I think.

The v8 is a terrific engine - only ever experienced one in an s80 though - in terms of efficiency I'd say its on a par with a T6
