I'm looking for a new car, with around £12k to spend, I want a diesel auto convertible. The C70 keeps appearing on the radar and looks really good. I know it's not a sports car, but that's fine. I'm more of a cruiser in my old age.

However this and other motoring forums don't mention them much. Either in a good or a bad way.

So does anybody, (somebody!) have anything to say?

Not sure. There are quite a few first generation ones including mine but I can't recall a newer one mentioned here by an owner.

I think it's a nice looking car and better proportioned than any other folding hard top car.

Like all smaller recent Volvos built on Ford's Focus platform and the better for that, handsome too. A bit hefty and has small boot volume due to the space taken by the roof and its mechanism. If you choose the D5 you can install aftermarket software to gain higher outputs around the 225bhp, 480nm torque level, plenty of aftermarket suspension options, rear ARBs, BBK, even an LSD or two...

Regards, Don.

All available from Kalmar Union Don? biggrin

Nice cars, they look great too IMO and are one of the few cars to pull of the hard top convertible roof thing. Stodgy to drive though so don't expect to go throwing it down any back roads.

They're fine but no sports or drivers car - but they do make a solid, refined and comfortable cruiser - I wouldn't bother tuning it - defeats the point of the car - they're certainly more rigid the blancmange like phase 1 convertible
