Advice needed for my next purchase

Hi Everyone

I want rid of my MGZS, and in the process of looking for another motor, I have a wife, an 8yr old, 4yr old and a newborn so it is a struggle to get everyone in, I don't want a ZT or a Mondeo, Vectra etc...

I have been looking at 9-5's and S60's or S80's and it needs to be a diesel, here is the dilemma.

I am assuming that the S80 is not a D5 and is pretty much poverty spec, the s60 looks nice but as it is an auto is it worth steering clear of.

I know a lot of the ones that I have seen are over 100,000 miles on the clock, is that a bad thing? if not what do I need to look for in the history to know that it has been looked after, what work is supposed to be done and when, the S80 has only done 78000 so I also have to assume that it is due a timing belt. #
