Chaps, looking to buy one of these as a 'birth present' to SWMBO following the arrival of our latest as the missus has always wanted one. Will be an additional, occasional car. Something like an 03 / 04 plate, budgeting maybe up to £5K? Love the 5 cylinder Turbo lump (had an 850R many moons ago) and it seems a lot of car for the money. Seen some that are fully loaded with heated leather, Dolby prologic etc.

Any horror stories, anything to look out for? Anyone know of a nice one for sale? Would prefer the dark blue with blue hood but would look at anything that is a proper straight and historied car.

Cheers,

I love mine - got a t5 GT auto - bought it for a grand - had loads of Volvos so biased. Much softer than an 850. Interior is a lovely place to be - Dynn audio prologic system is amazing and it is very comfortable.
They all go well but for outright performance a manual t5 is the one to have.
Engines are pretty much bulletproof as long they have been properly serviced - all the bks about ETM/fly-by-wire throttles is largely unfounded - avoid the models with Marelli systems - only built for a short period
Biggest probs are with suspension, uneven tyre wear is common on poorly set up cars. Steering racks not uncommon failure either.
By no means a sports car but a very secure high speed GT car - recommend them very cheap and very underrated - surprised we've not seen on SOTW yet
