Afternoon chaps.

I have an XC90 with the built in Sat Nav. Driving through France later this year and I wondered if any of you knew what the deal was with the French speed camera settings.

Relied on a Tom Tom in our previous car which I reset from "Speed Cameras" to "Saftey Zones" last year through a download from their website.

Anyone know the deal with Volvo's own system and how to change the settings or if it's even possible?

Thanks in advance.

Presumably it is the RTI system?

Does that even have camera locations? Neither of the 2 Volvo RTI systems I have used had them albeit not in XC90.

I certainly used both of them extensively in France without any problem .

Oh this just popped up in "my stuff", thanks.

I think it is the latest RTI system.

All I can tell you is that the system does recognise UK cameras and it plays a little camera shutter sound on the approach to one.

We went round the M25 Variable section the other day and it was going mad.

I'm probably unnecessarily concerned about the French safety zone issue. More interested to see if it had the same functionality as the Tom Tom.

Thanks for your reply.

ok it must be on a newer system. The only thing I could suggest is if you are worried about it then there must be an option to disable the cameras from the map database. Same way as you can select which poi are shown, eg garages, car parks, hotels etc.

The menu options will be something along the lines of Settings> Map Options > Facilities on the Map > Selected

If a newer system then yours is probably one of those that shares the screen with the radio phone etc. Mine was one of those that folded up out of the top of the dashboard, (59MY?) les flics never gave that a second glance but then I tend to behave myself. That even includes being scrutinised by what looked suspiciously like an unmarked battleship grey Renault whilst hoofing it round Lille, not pulled, never heard anything more.

Looking at the manual online it may be under facilities warning. link page 58

Thanks FiF, I appreciate your time.

I'll look into that.

Much obliged.
