Hi all.
Can anyone tellme if the engine in the above (99 V40 diesel) is a common rail, or at least electronic control.
I've not (quite) bought it yet, so any big issues with them?
The seller is reported as the engine smoking a bit, I'm guessing this is the turbo seals, but is there anything else that is common.

I have to tell you it's a 99plate with a few small mechanical issues, for £200, so if I need to put a second hand turbo on, it's not the end of the world - I'd just like to remap it, get it running OK and use it for a workhorse instead of a van..... (Oh dear that might not go down too well) wink

I suspect a '99 model will not be common rail. Later versions were.

If it has alloys it will probably weigh in at about £170 so you're not risking a fortune. You're basically buying it at scrap metal price.

Yeah, that's what I thought re scrap value. I know the Renault DCi engines are not the best (well certainly not my favorite), but the older design seems OK.
It looks pretty decent to be fair, so I'm hoping a few ball joints, a wheel bearing and a patched exhaust will see it through the MOT.....we shall see.
