S60 Battery Charge - Without Alarm going off!

S60 battery pretty much dead. Some drain somewhere, but that's another worry for another time.
Opened boot with key (no other way). When plugged into charger, alarm goes off for 30 seconds, then quiet, then another 30 seconds.
Shouldn't have tried this at 11.30pm! Stress!
Just stopped at last. But don't trust it.....

Unlocking / locking / unlocking again via keyfob remote doesn't do anything.

How can I charge it without the alarm sounding?

Once the battery started to charge, did you unlock the car with the remote or put the key in the ignition? If not, then the alarm would still be set.

No, was just as I connected the charger.I guess it was because I opened the boot with the key.
What I should have done was jump it with my other car, then turned alarm off.
It was the weakness of my charger that possibly meant the receiver wasn't working properly.
Ah well, it's sorted now.
