Whining noise on old C70
Discussion
My wifes 2000 C70 has started to make a fairly high pitched whining noise. It is on when we start the engine and then if you turn of the engine but leave the ignition on it continues then when ingition off it stops.
The noise is at the front offside by the belts. I recognise the one unit is the alternator not sure what the rest of the bits are down there (not mechanical in the slightest!)
Car runs fine as does everything on it so not sure what this could be. What else do the belts drive?
Thanks in advance

Also there is the power steering pump. At the top I think.
That's assuming it's the same as my 2000 car with the remote pump and the reservoir (black one) looks like this
Get a short length of hose, put one end against your ear and the other end against the various components to see what's causing the noise. If it's doing it with the ignition on but not the engine the auxiliary belt won't be moving and safe.
