850 Estate-both reverse lights not working

Hello all,

Both reversing lights don't work recently on my 850 estate.
Tried new bulbs. And checked fuse.

Fuse is the same one for indicators, which work fine.

Bit of research seems to suggest it is a switch that needs replacing under or near the air box?

Is this correct?

Car is a 96 'P' reg 850 T5.
Manual gearbox.

Everything else works fine.

Any help appreciated.

Did have them working for a short time again but have now packed up.

If anyone else has any experience of this then let me know please, with a cure too of possible.

I'd go with the reverse switch on gearbox. They get messed up and fail / short.
