I need to change the thermostat and housing on my 1995 850 with the 10v engine. I've spotted this on eBay, but it states it's for the 20v engine.

Can anyone confirm if there's any difference between the housing between the 10v and 20v engines?

Not that I'm aware of... my dad has a 10v 850 and as far as I know the housing and thermostat are the same as my 850R.

Out of interest, why do you need to replace the whole housing? Reckon the the thermostat is ok in that listing? Looks pretty old and worn to me for £26.

Personally I'd go with http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/advanced_searc...

I need to replace the housing because I managed to break the housing clean off trying to free the seized bolts while replacing the thermostat (or trying to!). Seems to be a fairly common issue:

I've since been told by a couple of different breakers that the 10v and 20v housings are not interchangeable, so the one on eBay is no use to me.

Hmmmm seems that there's only one part available to buy http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/product_info.p... so they look the same to me biggrin
