I have an s60 2.0 t.. Started over the last few days making a very faint thud when releasing the clutch in 1st gear to 2nd.
It's faint and other gear changes etc are all ok.. Although there is some minor tranmission / driveline shunt I have looked at the top mount (square design) and there is some movement.. The strut moves as well.

Car only has 35k 2007 model..

Could mount be out or is it more likely clutch driveshaft issue at this mileage.

Easily liveable with just thinking seems easy to replace that mount if it cures it..

Cheers..

I've got slight transmission shunt on one of mine but with the old style mount and 121000. I'm going to change the mount as it is an easy job and they are quite cheap.

If it is the mount or not I'd suggest this upgrade anyway.

cheap and makes a difference.

There's also a mount on the front lower side of the gearbox. Have a look under the front of the engine and you should see it, takes a couple of minutes to change.

Probably not the top mount in your case, gearbox torque mount more likely and quite a cheap, easy fix.
You will have the redesigned top engine torque mount which does have quite a lot of movement in it anyway.
My old one had completely come apart.

As an aside, I had a similar noise and it actually turned out to be a shot rear anti-roll bar bush despite the noise seeming to come from the middle/front of the car.

It's not the lower mount.. That famous s60 driveshaft ping has re-appeared as well, I'm assuming connected..
