XC90 crabbing

Followed an 11 plate XC90 earlier that was crabbing like old mini's used to, i tried to follow the driver to tell them but lost them.

How the hell did that happen? You could see the car was struggling to go round coners properly, cannot see how the driver did not know.

I would have though a locked up diff would do that maybe? Not sure how that could happen to one of these though.
