Hi,

I've been offered a 54 plate V50 2.4i with LPG conversion by a couple who we used to know when we lived at our old house.

It's done 113k, with MOT until September and tax till the end of the month. They've offered it us for £1800, which seems a good deal as the cheapest on Autotrader (with more mile) are all £2.5k plus. would the LPG conversion have effected the price, or is this deemed desirable?

Additionally, they had the LPG conversion done about 5 years ago and was wondering if anyone could offer any advise regarding any possible pitfalls in it having this conversion or any additional servicing requirements etc?

I'm comfortable that they've had the car serviced and will have cared for it well, but as you can probably gather, im just unsure about the LPG conversion as ive never looked into or considered one previously.

Any advice or opinions welcomed

Dommett

Can't comment on the LPG, but I had a 2.4i v50 and its a great engine, solid 30mpg, so with LPG it should be at least on par with running costs of the lower powered diesels, and cheaper than the not so frugal d5 engine.
I would have thought the LPG would have added to value if anything, and the mileage isn't very high, check the cambelt has been changed which is 8 year/96k I think.

As far as I know they are very reliable, and that seems peanuts. If the LPG system has lasted 5 years there's no reason to think it might fail, from what I've heard it's more likely to go wrong in the early days due to poor installation, so getting one that's freshly converted may well be more concerning.
