Currently need to replace all 4 tyres on our XC90 - Tyreshopper currently have a deal on 4x Avon Ranger HTT tyres for £427

Anyone any experience of them - any good?

Is the load rating high enough for those tyres? My XC90 requires 104V, and the Avons are 103V.

I am currently using Avon Ranger Ice winter tyres, which are good in the snow and ice, but they do seem to have very soft sidewalls, making the handling noticable less precise. I don't know if the Avons you are considering also have this drawback.

checked the scorpions currently fitted and they are 103V

Looks like I'll go for the General Grabber - £136 fitted per tyre at Micheldever tyres - doesn't seem too bad a price

On our 2nd set of General Grabber's having previously used Scorpions and Contis. GG's cheaper and seem to last a bit longer. Had no problems in the snow with them either.

Had 4x general grabbers fitted today, 136 per corner. Very chunky tread compared to the scorpions, handled very muddy field with ease and feels a little more planted, but that could be because the old tyres were worn.

Lets see how long these last

Like some others here we have just had General Grabbers fitted, seem fine and were not a bad cost either

I'm a big fan of General Grabbers and on my second set. I think they are certainly better than the Scorpions that I had previously. The GGs seem to have more grip, especially on slippery surfaces.
