850 T5 boost gauge not working

Probably the vacuum hose. Open the boonet, look under the air trunking that feeds the air box. There will be a thin, hard plastic white hose running underneath it - there's a rubber joining section just under the trunking, they're prone for coming apart. Also check the vacuum tree which sits just above the throttle body, it's perhaps come off there too. It's probably worth checking and replacing every vacuum hose on the car as most will be dried and perished by now and also, if there is a split hose, that'll be affecting performance too.

Another of my great ideas. Having said the R was too heavy on fuel and sold it (to Top Gear, but I may have mentioned that a thousand times already) I started a new job and thus, one car was creating issues so set off to buy something mega cheap, frugal and small to run to work. I missed and came back with a 1995 T5 estate. It's ok, bit rough round the edges but it was cheap and it'll keep me entertained. Few wee niggles, vac hoses being one such issue - on the case just now so will pop some pictures up for the O.P. Ignore the chaos and the blue hoses, they're not staying. Check all the joining sections, check the vacuum tree and also check up above the pedals as the vacuum hose can pop off there too. It should be a white, hard plastic hose with black rubber joining sections but lots have been changed over the years.
If you changing vacuum pipes, it's well worth doing the one that run from the actuator, into the boost control solenoid (screwed to the airbox) and then round to the avcuum tree as years of heat, oil and general abuse makes them dry out, perish and ulitmately fail which creates all manner of issues.

Doesn't join to anything as such, it just joins another section of white plastic pipe... god knows why they have a join in them, why not use a longer, single section of pipe? The otehr bit pipe will be lying loose somewhere, grab a torch and have a look under the air intake pipe and maybe sort of under the bonnet panel bove the headlights. It won't be far away... just rejoin it and ideal pop a couple of little cable ties on or spray the end of the plastic hose with hairspray, slide it into the rubber joiner and when said hairspray dries it should stop it coming loose again.
