Just bought an XC90, 54 reg, from a dealer and found the spare wheel is missing (amongst a whole list of problems). Rang the previous owner, it was there when he sold it.......so the bloody dealer, or the dealer he sold it to, has sold it off for a profit. Any idea where to get a replacement?

It was an extra on our XC90, they supply one of the foam aerosol things now.

Options would seem to be a decent scrap yard, volvo or foam spray

Thanks for the suggestions Dave. I have a scrappy offering me an alloy plus tyre for £150.
Having watched Watchmog last night, I doubt I will be buying more foam sprays - I already have two for my TVR (no spare wheel, as front and rear wheels are different sizes)and have serious doubt they would do any good if I had a pot hole blowout, which is the most likely thing around East Anglia.
As for Volvo themselves, I only paid £7k, so could probably get a new car for what they would charge!!

I think I will go with the scrappy.....

Have a look on ebay as well. I was looking for some wheels recently and there were lots of space saver wheels there.

Thanks - I had a brief look last night and found one very rusty example for 30 quid, but what you find is only as good as the search parameters you use, so i will try again.

I should have added that I was looking for C70 wheels.

The rust doesn't look too bad on that one though I don't think the seller should be describing it as new! Give it a quick going over with a wire brush, mask the tyre and aerosol it should be ok.

Alternatively, see if you can find out what other cars take that size wheel and widen your search. For what it's worth I got a can of tyre foam for emergencies and waited for the right wheel (and not too far) to appear on ebay.

Thanks for the thoughts Will.
I might well check the fit of the space saver one we have both seen and make a bid - as you say, its worth just cleaning it up and at least having something on the car. It was a good thought, as i use it for my TVR, but I cannot take the risk of Tyreweld on this one, as the car is actually for my daughter and son in law, and they have two kids under 5. I know from experience that at least 50% of fast punctures (as opposed to slow punctures) are inoperable when you take them to be mended, and we are out in the pot-holey and subsided countryside, rather remote and dark at night.
You have just given me an ideaidea.....I have a SORNed old Ford Explorer 4x4 at home with a good spare. Steel wheel, but who cares about that? It must be pretty close to the right size.....I will check when I get home.

If you get a full sized alloy it will not fit in the space provided so it would have to take up room in the boot. May well limit putting the back row of seats up, on one side at least

No idea if the Ford wheel will fit. The ebay one is probably going to be best, £30 doesn't sound too bad if you need it quickly.

We've got young kids so I know what you mean about relying on a car but we live in a town and have access to a few cars.

I've never had to use the tyreweld foam. I've had three punctures, one I pumped up and drove (less than a mile) to a garage who mended the tyre, second I put the spare on and took the wheel to the garage who put a new tyre on and the third was on my MG and I have a total of nine wheels for it so just put another on...

Just had a Homer Simpson moment.

doh!! The car has LPG, donut tank where the spare goes. Will have to have a think. Homer would eat the donut, but I need it to make the running costs sensible.

laugh That would explain where the wheel is!

Tyreweld and AA membership?
