XC90 CV Joint Replacement?

So there's a noise that sounds like a stick being dragged along a set of railings from the off side front when the car is cold and accelerating. I'm pretty sure this is one of the CV joints lunching itself and will need to get it replaced.

Has anyone had one changed before? what did it cost? are there any specialist tools needed? (i'm a fairly keen and have a decent set of tools but have never tried anything like this on the drive before!)

Yes just had it done - part was £250, and replacement a couple of hours of labour. I had it done at the same time as the spline shaft sleeve - total cost £1000
